One of the most successful Kenyan music production houses, Ogopa DJs, is on fire. Sources told Off the Hook that the stable has allegedly refused to renew all contracts for its artistes.
Among the artistes affected are Mustapha, Kenzo, Avril, Marya and Trapee. It is still not clear why Ogopa’s owners, brothers Lucas and Francis Bikedo, chose to do so.
Mustapha spoke to a local radio station about how confused he was following the cancellation.
However, Ogopa’s spokesman, Emmanuel Banda said there is a lot of confusion about the whole matter.
“I am yet to consult with the bosses but I can assure you, we shall have a full report and explanation by the weekend,” he said.
It is still not clear what Amani’s position is. The singer has been struggling to leave the label.
However, Banda said Amani still has three years to go as far as her contract is concerned. “Let’s treat all this as hearsay, until we get the full information,” he added.
